In the heart of the mid-Willamette valley, amidst the lush greenery and vibrant communities of Oregon, a family's dream took root in 2020. After years of experience in the field of caregiving, they recognized a pressing need for more comprehensive services tailored to the intellectually and disabled individuals who so often were left in the margins. The family observed a gap in the support systems, a void where care should be abundant and decided to take a bold step. It was out of this need, coupled with a deep-seated passion for service, that North Star Oregon was born.
Our founders, Justin and Amy Wallace, have a combined 13 years of experience serving people with developmental disabilities in various capacities which include group home care, employment services, program management, and service coordination. Their journey was not merely professional; it was personal. They cared for family members and friends with disabilities, and in doing so, they understood the profound impact that attentive, personalized care could have on an individual's life. With a vision to extend their reach and effect change in their community, they set out to establish an organization that would reflect their values of empathy, inclusivity, and empowerment.
Launching in the midst of a challenging year, North Star Oregon quickly became a beacon of hope for many. They started small, but their impact was immediate and heartfelt. By offering a range of services, including day support activities that embraced the beauty of the outdoors and in-home attendant care that catered to the unique needs of each individual, they began to transform lives. The founders' commitment to creating a nurturing environment where every person could thrive resonated with families throughout the valley.
As word of their exceptional care spread, North Star Oregon grew — not just in size, but in the scope of its services and the depth of its community relationships. The family's ethos, that everyone deserves to lead a fulfilling life, propelled the organization forward. Their hands-on approach to care, attention to detail, and unwavering support for both clients and their families set a new standard in the field.
Today, North Star Oregon stands as a testament to the belief that with the right support, every individual has the potential to shine. The family's journey, which began with a simple observation and a heartfelt desire to make a difference, continues to inspire and guide the organization's path. And as they look to the future, they do so with the knowledge that the brightest stars are those that light the way for others.
